The year 2008 is over now and the new year is upon us. The year 2009 is going to bring many new and exciting features to search engine industry. Everyone is thinking if, finally, year 2009 is going to be the mobile devices year, if the mobile device advertising and search engine optimization alike will kick in to the mainstream. I hope so.

Yes, this will be the year of marketing for the mobile device. I also think Google and Yahoo will have some big changes in store for this year. Yahoo especially. Lets hope its a great year.

@Mike: I hope Yahoo will pull off sth big this year. Its time to create some more pressure on Google. Its always better and healthier if there are couple of big players rather than just one.

I agree that mobile will be big. But what about localized search and personal search? I think that engines are becoming more intelligent and that personalization is just a matter of time.

@Web Templates: SearchWiki is personalized search results already used by Google. Both localized and personalized results will be even more important this year.

You done it all. Google already participate in mobile technologies. Google’s just-released browser, Chrome, lives on PCs now, but industry insiders say its real potential lies in mobile.

@Dubai website: Its a good point. Chrome is already serving ads through build in auto suggestion box and if they manage to conquer mobile devices they get billions of potential new users to their ads. Anyway, its going to be a good year for mobile devices
