Google have launched a new product, Google In-Game Advertising. It enables advertisers to publish their ads within the online games that became so popular lats years.
Google has focused on building a network and ad technology specifically for games played within the browser.
Independent research has shown that most users do not have a negative opinion of in-game advertising and will watch video ads exchange for free game play.
Google In-Game Advertising program is aimed to use the power of online games to deliver targeted ads. It is a highly specific network of publishers that associates the most popular online game websites and have high requirements for new websites to join the publishers network:
Current Requirements:
- Game plays: Minimum 500,000 per day
- Game types: Web-based Flash only
- Integration: Must be technically capable of SDK integration
- Traffic source: Must be 80% US & UK Traffic
- Content: Family safe and targeted at users age 13 and up
- Distribution: Must be able to report embed destination and have control over where games are distributed
Google AdSense advertisers benefit from the program as they are now able to target the audience through the online games advertising to brand their company name, drive traffic to their website directly from the online game and show their advertisement to the wide online games audience.
