In part 1 of my article, “Link Juice: How to make people link to your website“ at Marketing Pilgrim I covered the following tips:
Now I bring you even more tips about gaining inbound links to your website.
Tip #8: Develop valuable content.
Create interesting, unique timeless content on your website. Write about things that your visitors may be interested in, help them solve their problems and give them adequate answers to their troubles.
Keep your content easy to read, understandable and make it fit to your target audiences. It is obvious that you should write in totally different way if you cover teen related topics and when you write for Fortune 500 businesses. Use the language which your audience is familiar with. Preferably you should focus on writing at high school level in most cases. Double check your articles and posts to eliminate all grammatical and spelling errors.
Writing original content can help you attract more visitors and may result in stronger bond between your company and customers. Attractive and appealing content is also great opportunity to gain links to your website and becoming cited source and website with high authority. Remember that search engines look for text on your site so make good use of that.
Tip #9: Enable easy linking to your website.
When you write a valuable content let people easily link to it. You don’t want a situation when people get stack with figuring out how to link to your website or when they have to spend too much time on that. You also don’t want to change your URL’s too often or forget about 301 redirections in case you change them.
Make descriptive titles so people knew right away what you are writing about. Don’t mislead them. Write upfront what the article is about and describe your ideas afterwards.
Use social bookmarking services to spread your thoughts easier and faster. There is a lot of people using social websites and they will appreciate if you make their web experience even easier by enabling them to add your website to their favorites social bookmarking websites. There is many extensions and scripts for webmasters to do that in an easy way on their websites. Let people share your articles/content with others by adding “Send this website to your friends” function.
You may also want to add custom buttons, banners or links in “Link to us” section of your website to have better control over how people link to you and what anchor texts do they use. Interesting banner designs and using your primary keywords in text links are good ways to attract people to link to you and gain valuable inbound links at the same time.
Tip #10: Ask for links.
Easy as it may sound it is rather more complicated process. Do you think everyone is interested in putting a link to your website on their website just like that, because you asked them for that? Think again.
Actually as long as you are not highly respected guru in your industry you should expect to get mostly negative answers for your emails. What you have to remember when asking for link backs are:
You may also contact them by phone instead of email. People are more likely to link to your website if you contact them by phone. It’s simply harder for them to say “no”.
Link with sites that will bring benefits to you AND your visitors. Choose permanent links, with no no-follow attribute. Check websites cache version in Google to see if they use legitimate methods or some kind of scripts to dynamically serve various links on their website.
Tip #11: Conferences and business meetings.
Attend your industry conferences, meet with people from your branch. Talk to them in person, make relationships with gurus in your trade. It is far more easier to talk directly to them in person, when they are ready for that, easily accessible and approachable. They are looking for new points of view, new connections, new ideas. Just as you are. So take advantage of that. Don’t be shy and start a conversation. You may extend that person to person relationship onto the web which may help grow your business and gain some links to your website.
Meet with your friends from the industry, make new friends, expand your connections. Make interesting interviews with the “inside people”. Such interviews make original content quite easily and they may spread quite fast on the Internet distributing your links on different websites.
Conclusions.
If you are wandering about other ways of gaining links to your website just ask yourself these questions:
Is there any other way I can think of to improve my websites linkability? What can I do better to improve my current link building campaigns? Did I use all the methods of gaining links to my website? Is there anything I can do to make more connections that may influence gaining links to my website?
Just think and I’m sure you will find the right answers to get even more links to your website. Good luck.

If only people did this when requesting links. I get so many people telling me that my site is related to theirs and that my site is “valuable” or “interesting”and clearly they haven’t even read it and their site is no where near related to mine.
