Welcome back! Thanks for sticking by.
Technorati have released the fist part of their yearly “State of the Blogosphere” report covering insights into the blogging world.
…for the 2008 study, we resolved to go beyond the numbers of the Technorati Index to deliver even deeper insights into the blogging mind. For the first time, we surveyed bloggers directly about the role of blogging in their lives, the tools, time, and resources used to produce their blogs, and how blogging has impacted them personally, professionally, and financially.
Main 2008 study findings

Blogs are here to stay. Blogs are now mainstream people! They are part of everyday live, they are not only for hi-tech people. Everyone can write a blog. To prove that, a statistic: the blogosphere is collectively creating almost 1 000 000 posts a day!
Blogs are not only in English language. There are blogs in almost all languages covering almost every topic you can imagine. “…Technorati tracked blogs in 81 languages in June 2008″.
Bloggers are more advanced than they were several years ago. Partly thanks to more advanced tools and partly thanks to their own experience. They use more sophisticated methods to reach their target audience…and they make money on their blogs too.
Among those with advertising [opportunities on their blogs], the mean annual investment in their blog is $1,800, but it’s paying off. The mean annual revenue is $6,000 with $75K+ in revenue for those with 100,000 or more unique visitors per month
Big companies also see the benefits and power in social media like blogosphere. Product reviews, company news, special promotions and press releases are mentioned on blogs on daily basis and many big companies use blogging as a platform to send a message or introduce new product/services.
Companies are already reaching out to bloggers. One-third of bloggers have been approached to be brand advocates.
